Last Friday I received a call from the producers of the CBS Early Show to invite me to be a guest on their summer kick off Friday Food Fest broadcast LIVE in New York. I was a little skeptical since we receive a lot of invitations that don't always plan out. The next morning, I received a video tape example of the show segment from CBS. They were serious.....

Because of my recent cancer surgery and subsequent medical problems I could not accept this invitation without some help. I turned to my family in El Campo and they agreed to accompany me to New York and help with the segment. Cousins Tim, Nick, Gerry and Donna Mikeska got together last night in El Campo to discuss our plans and travel arrangements to New York. The program will air on Friday morning sometime between 7am and 9am local time.

Uncle Maurice is shown with some of the Smoked Beef Jerky we will take to New York on Friday May 23rd.

Tim Mikeska to be featured on PBS Special about Texas Bar-B-Q

Russell Yarnell with Digital Productions is shown with his production crew at Rudy Mikeska's in Taylor. The show that featured Tim Mikeska will air sometime later this year on PBS. Tim talked about his family's history in the Bar-B-Q business and the many things he learned from his parents Rudy and Joy. Russell and his crew had been very courteous to Tim during his illness and waited for his health to improve before shooting this program.

I want to express my thanks to the hard working staff at Rudy Mikeska's for helping me during my surgery and recovery. Stella Ruiz, Eileen Bunge, Doris Walpole, James Bohac, Peter Chapa, Mary Chapa, Jim Armstrong, Trey Keith, Caleb Brooks, Sam Fox, Clayton Ging, Ryan Stiba, and Marvin Vrana. I could not have kept our company going without the dedication of these great people that are a part of my extended family

I have had a few medical setbacks that have prevented me from returning to work fulltime. I sincerely appreciate everyone's prayers and words of encouragement.
