Some more pictures of my visit to Bosnia.......
July 4th, 2000 Bar-B-Q in Bosnia...... right before this picture,
I was surprised to see how "red" the color of the cooked brisket
was. As it turns out the brisket had been pre-cured and then re-seasoned
with my seasoning. It was too salty !! This was an unfortunate
mistake. The hard working Bosnians in the background can be seen cooking
the steaks, chicken and ribs.
Here is a picture with Suada in the kitchen at Eagle Base. She is a
very hard working woman that spoke "almost" perfect english.
She helped me prepare the barbecue sauce and was my translator.
Two of our heavily armed Military Police Security soldiers guarding
us near one of the "mass graves".
Srebrenica..... a city terribly damaged by the war. The bare ground
near the weeds is where a Muslim mosque once stood. It was completely
destroyed. Notice the large hole in the wall, and the destroyed wall
structures in the building.
A destroyed battery factory on the road leading to Srebrenica as seen
by a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter.
A street in downtown Srebrenica. Notice the bullet holes in the second
story of the buildings.
Major General Robert Halverson, the Commanding Officer of Task Force
Eagle.
MG Halverson is a great leader and very capable soldier. I was honored
to be able to meet him and all his soldiers at Eagle Base.
Special Thanks to Col. Dale Pyeatt (ret.) Of the National Guard
Association of Texas.
and to......
Major General Daniel James, Adjutant General of Texas
Major General Raymond Rees, Vice Chief, National Guard Bureau

The Men and Women of the 49th Armored Division "Lone Star"

The Families of our Guardsmen who are enduring a personal sacrifice
and special thanks...... to the many employers of our National Guardsmen
who understand the importance of the mission in Bosnia.
